Ssssh! This Is The SECRET To Glowing And Youthful Skin!

Some of the most commonly known tips for how to get youthful looking skin are to eat well, exercise regularly and live a healthy lifestyle. While the foods you eat and lifestyle you live can dramatically impact your skin's health - we would like to outline some additional steps that you can take to maintain younger looking skin. If you follow these 4 easy steps then you can help to maintain smooth, durable and glowing skin that will help keep it looking younger and healthier.

1. Stay Hydrated!

This may be THE most important step to follow for more youthful skin! Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Ensuring you are sufficiently hydrated should be at the core of your skincare routine. Who wants dry and itchy skin? We all want naturally glowing skin! As we age, our skin begins to dry out more easily which can lead to premature ageing, wrinkles, cracking and itchiness. While a good moisturiser is important to help keep the skin hydrated what will help to alleviate your symptoms is hydration.

Hydration utilises water based ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid to pump the skin full of water which smooths out fine lines and wrinkles. Whereas moisturisation utilises thicker lipids to lock in hydration.

As a skin care expert, I know that adding hydration as a skincare step in your daily regime is the single most impactful change you can make your replenishing your skin.

2. Avoid Skin Irritants

Let's discuss intrinsic and extrinsic ways that your skin ages. Genes cause extrinsic skin ageing and while it cannot be avoided, it can be treated. Intrinsic skin ageing is caused by environmental irritants and lifestyle. Irritants like sun exposure, smoking and alcohol all negatively impact your skin. Alcohol causes inflammation by bringing the blood up to the tissue of your skin, whereas nicotine reduces blood flow to the surface. Avoiding or reducing these irritants is an excellent way to help preserve your skin.

Shielding your skin from harmful UV rays will protect your skin's health. Damage from the sun is fast acting and leads to premature ageing skin. Too much sun exposure allows harmful rays to penetrate the inner layers of the skin which damage your skin cells causing them to die or potentially develop skin cancer. Our advice is to invest in an effective SPF for your daily skincare routine. I use SPF 50 on my face and neck daily - The Australian sun is strong and damaging and my delicate Scottish skin needs protecting!

3. Invest in Anti Ageing Skincare Products

As we age, our skin suffers; damaged and dead skin cells are not replaced by new ones as quickly causing your skin to look blotchy, dull and aged. To ensure that your skin stays looking youthful and glowing you must invest in anti-ageing skincare products.

Anti-ageing products utilise powerful active ingredients that are proven to combat the signs of ageing. Hyaluronic Acid, Co-Enzyme Q10, Collagen and Malic Acid are well known age fighting actives that can help to diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines while also providing your skin with essential vitamins and nutrients. With age also comes a decrease in collagen production and reduced skin elasticity - this can also result in fine lines and wrinkles.
